Sustainability

Sustainability at Morley Primary School

By September 2025, all schools are required to have a sustainability lead and Climate Change action plan.  At Morley Primary School our Sustainability Lead is the Headmaster, Mr Taylor.

At present, we are creating our long term action plan for school and linking closely with Broomfield College to support this.

The 4 key areas:

1. Climate Education

2. Green Skills and Careers

3. Education Estate and Digital Infrastructure

4. Operations and Supply Chains

Exciting News for Morley Primary School

We are pleased to announce our new partnership with Derby College, Broomfield.  Mr Taylor, our Headmaster, and Mrs Taylor, our School Business Officer, recently met with Mollie Cox, Environmental and Sustainability Officer for Broomfield to explore ways to make our school more sustainable and environmentally friendly.

This collaboration will provide valuable learning opportunities for our children, helping them understand the importance of sustainability and how they can contribute to a greener future, including green careers. By working with Derby College, we aim to introduce new eco-friendly initiatives within the school, reduce our environmental impact, and ensure that sustainability is at the heart of our curriculum.

We look forward to sharing our progress and the positive changes this partnership will bring.

At Morley Primary School we aim to regularly take part in a selection of these activities each term

RSPBA Bird Watch 2025

Children across school will be taking part in the RSPBA Bird Watch in January and February 2025.  This will also include our Forest Schools children taking part in the bird watch at The Retreat.  Our results will be shared towards  the end of February.  This is also an opportunity for children to take part at home:

Million Trees Campaign

Morley Primary School Joins the Million Trees Campaign:

We’re excited to announce that our school has joined the Million Trees campaign. This fantastic initiative aims to plant one million trees across the UK by 2030, helping to combat climate change, support biodiversity, and create greener spaces for future generations.

This week, we received our very own tree, which will be planted on school grounds. Class 1 children will have the special job of planting the tree with Mrs Willis.

By taking part, we’re not only contributing to a healthier planet but also giving our children the opportunity to learn about nature, sustainability, and the importance of protecting the environment. Through hands-on experience, they will see first-hand how small actions can make a big difference. We can’t wait to watch our tree grow and be part of a greener future.

For more details about why we have chosen to join this campaign, visit: https://milliontrees.co.uk/
