At Morley, we believe careers education is not something that starts in secondary school — it starts here.
Our children deserve to see the possibilities open to them. They deserve to meet real people, ask real questions and begin to imagine real futures.
Through our careers programme, we invite professionals from a wide range of fields into school to share their journeys, experiences and advice. These visits help children understand:
That there are many different pathways into adulthood
That success looks different for everyone
That effort, resilience and character matter just as much as qualifications
That their dreams are valid — and achievable
We are incredibly proud to share that Morley has been awarded the Primary Futures Gold Award 2026 for Raising Aspirations through Career Related Learning.
This national recognition reflects our commitment to giving children meaningful, high-quality opportunities to engage with the world of work from an early age. It celebrates the strength of our programme and the way careers education is embedded into the life and ethos of our school.
The award recognises that our approach is not a one-off event — it is a sustained, values-led commitment to broadening horizons and raising aspirations for every child.
We are proud to have already welcomed visitors including:
Our local MP, Jonathan Davies
Nurses and doctors
An Occupational Therapist
Event managers
Police officers
Dentists
…and we have many more professionals booked in throughout the year.
Each visitor speaks honestly about their education, the challenges they faced, what surprised them about their career and what they love most about their work. Children are encouraged to ask thoughtful, curious questions — and they always do!
At the heart of everything we do is The Morley Feeling:
Togetherness. Love. Passion.
Every time a professional visits Morley, our children ask them one key question:
“What are your three Morley Feeling characteristics for your career?”
This helps children see that careers are not just about jobs — they are about values.
How does Togetherness show in being a police officer?
Why is Love important in healthcare?
Where does Passion drive someone in politics or event management?
By making this explicit, children begin to understand that character and values underpin success in any field.
Careers education at Morley:
Raises aspirations
Broadens horizons beyond our immediate locality
Strengthens communication and questioning skills
Builds cultural capital
Helps children connect learning to the real world
Most importantly, it helps children see that the qualities they are developing every day at Morley — vocabulary, leadership and locality — are the very qualities that will shape their future.
We are excited to continue expanding our careers programme throughout the year and look forward to welcoming many more inspirational visitors into our Morley community.
