At Morley Primary School, we are proud to have a close relationship with St. Matthew's Church in Morley. We work closely with Rev. Kate Plant and Christine Doyle to provide enrichment opportunities for our children, helping to deepen their connection with the local community and their understanding of the world around them.
Once a month, Rev. Kate and Christine visit our school to lead an assembly for the children, offering inspiring talks that encourage reflection, discussion, and growth. In addition, our children attend church services at significant times throughout the year, including Christmas, Easter, and other poignant occasions. These services are a wonderful opportunity for our children to participate in the spiritual life of the community and reflect on important events in the church calendar.
Our children have also had the chance to study the history of the stained glass windows in St. Matthew's Church, learning about the symbolism and artistry behind these beautiful pieces. This study, along with an exploration of other historical elements of the church, enriches their knowledge of local heritage and its connection to the broader world.
Having St. Matthew's Church right on our doorstep strengthens our ties to the local community, enriching the lives of our children. This partnership ensures that our curriculum remains contextualised, with a clear focus on local history, culture, and values. Through these connections, we are able to provide our children with a deeper understanding of their community, both past and present.
