Our Australia work

All classes have begun work with an Australia theme today, as we came back to school following the half term holiday. Here is a flavour of what we are doing.

Class 1

Class 1 are working on the theme of Holidays, using Australia as their destination. The role play area has an Australian theme, and children are enjoying using the airport check-in (even some of our older children in After School Club).

Class 2

Class 2 started their Australian work with a cookery lesson, making strawberry and cream bread. Mrs Taylor has taken this home to cut up ready for the class to eat at the cycling day tomorrow in Shipley Park. It does look (and smell) good.

Class 3

Class 3 are basing their work around the book 'The Arrival' by the Australian author Shaun Tan. The novel explores issues around migration, homelessness, attitudes, helping each other, and survival. It will link with the set topic for this term of the Holocaust, and link to our on-going work on PSHE, Citizenship and Values. They are also blogging with our sister school in Morley, Perth, Australia, via the secure Seesaw app.
