Morley Show & Fun Day, Sunday September 17th
This year’s Show features a brand new range of categories for children to enter, with a £5 cash prize for every category in the junior section – there’s never been a better time to get making, baking and growing! The adult section remains in the traditional format – and we do hope to see a wide range of our community’s fantastic produce! Please see the attached leaflet for info. We are hoping that this will inspire even more junior entries this September!
The Show will again be held in the school building, with entries accepted from 9.30-10.30am and presentation of prizes at 1pm. The Fun Day commences at 12pm on the playground and will feature carnival-style games run by pupils and parents, a bouncy castle, refreshments and a small selection of local stalls.
The day will finish around 3pm with the ever-popular auction of Show produce, followed by the grand raffle draw.
The Morley Show and Fun Day is open to all; we warmly welcome you to our school for an afternoon of fun and games – and encourage you to please enter the show. All proceeds go directly to the school and are used to fund trips and activities that enrich our pupils’ curriculum.
The show leaflet will be distributed throughout the locality over the summer and the poster will go up on local parish noticeboards, shops and in schools etc. If you have a local business where you can display the poster or know of any good points of display please just ask for copies. All information will be posted on the school website this week and local magazines are also running news items for us.
As always we are looking for helpers to make the day a success. If you ran a game/stall last year and can do the same again (but with a different game) that would be great – can you please let school/PTA know? If you are new to this and able to help, please see Susie Henton.
This year class 2 will be designing and running four of the games stalls. In teams, the children will come up with a design, plan it out, find the materials they need – and then build their game. They will need to run and score their game on the day – and there will be a prize for the best, voted for on the day! Parental input may be required for the build / set up – so we would be very grateful if you can please support these activities.
Last year we were a bit thin on the ground for parent entries into the show… we know there are some very talented bakers / growers / artists out these so please have a go this year. Most entries will be auctioned off at the end of the day – and this raises a lot of money for the school.
Please get your children, family and friends involved over the summer – and bring as many people as you possibly can on the day – it’s free to get in and the children really loved it last year.
